French striker Antoine Griezmann has announced he is staying at Atletico Madrid in a prolonged interview style show aired tonight.

Griezmann joined Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014 and has scored 112 goals in all competitions for the club. With the buy-out clause sum set to drop to 100 million on July 1, 2018, Barca President Josep Maria Bartomeu admitted that he has spoken to the representatives of the player.

Two days before the final of the Europa League, he said: "Everyone tells me to go, go away, they think I have everything done and I do not tell them".

The forward, 27, said he wanted to clarify his future before France's World Cup opener against Australia on Saturday.

It is unclear if their state-of-the-art £850m new stadium will be available in time for the start of the new season. This is first time a club has been allowed to play home games at two venues in the same season.

"You're fed up with all the talk - am I going, am I staying, how much they will pay me, how much they won't pay me", Griezmann says in the trailer. He also posted a video on Twitter with the captain, "My fans, my team, my home".

That led to Atletico releasing a scathing statement declaring they were "sick of Barcelona's attitude" in the lead- up to the Europa League final in Lyon, which was widely expected to be the player's last big game for Atletico. "Since I arrived at the club, we have grown so much, we have won important titles, we have consolidated [among] the great teams in Europe, we have a brand-new stadium and it is an honour that they bet on me and to be able to keep contributing to the growth of this great project". "This is going to make a difference".
