11 bodies recovered at a house in Delhi’s Burari

Eleven members of a family - four men and seven women - were found dead in a Delhi village home in "mysterious" circumstances, the police said Sunday.

Some of the bodies were found hanging from the iron grill ceiling, while others were found lying on the floor with their hands and legs tied.

"I haven't seen such a crime before", said Vineet Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police in north Delhi. The channel has been a "thought leader" and has pioneered several path-breaking initiatives that include CNN-News18 Indian of the Year, Real Heroes, The Citizen Journalist Show, India Positive, State of the Nation (channel's flagship bi-annual poll) to name a few.

The police were informed about the incident by a neighbour who grew suspicious about the mishappening after none of the family members opened the shop they used to run till 7.30 AM.

The family had lived in the house for more than two decades, the Hindustan Times newspaper reported. He raised an alarm and people then called the police.

Thukral questioned whether the family had died by suicide. How would a mother be able to kill her own children? "They couldn't have committed suicide. These are murders", he said.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari visited the spot. "It is an ongoing investigation and we haven't ruled out anything".

Police suspect the family committed suicide after suffering financial losses in business.

"Police are investigating. Let's wait for their investigation to be over", he said.
