Walmart under fire from conservatives for 'Impeach 45' shirts slamming Trump

This isn't the first time Walmart has found itself in trouble over apparel sold on its website.

Walmart customers who support President Donald Trump slammed the retailer for selling items that read "Impeach 45" and "Impeach Trump" produced by third-party companies.

Late last night, Ryan Fournier, the chairman of the political group Students For Trump, tweeted about the shirt (that also came in adorable onesie form), asking Walmart, "What kind of message are you trying to send?" Amidst the many "Make America Great Again" tees, the company also sells shirts that are critical of the president.

Of course, this proliferation of indignation has been criticized by the current Commander in Chief's dissenters, who think the #BoycottWalmart movement is one-dimensional.

But the accusations miss a crucial fact about how Walmart runs its website, or more specifically, its third-party marketplace, where the items appeared.

Angry Trump supporters threatened to boycott Walmart over the clothing range.

Serena Williams seeded for Wimbledon
Putting Williams at No. 25 now means that she could face someone seeded No. 1 through No. 8 in the third round. As Wimbledon approached, she petitioned for the All England Club to take maternity leave into account.

"These items were sold by third party sellers on our open marketplace, and were not offered directly by Walmart", a spokesperson told the BBC on Tuesday.

The "Impeach 45" clothes are no longer on the site, but a large selection of pro-Trump items are still for sale.

Walmart has caused outrage over its apparel before.

A representative for Walmart didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment. The company removed a shirt with the slogan "Rope. Tree. Journalist. SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED" was listed on its website through an outside company.

The shirt wasn't made by Walmart.
