Iran tells European Union to implement guarantees before United States sanctions return

GETTYPresident Hassan Rouhani warned Iran could soon halt exports of oil to neighbouring countries

That was earlier than some expected, according to CNBC, following President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

Iran's remaining partners in the 2015 nuclear deal vowed Friday to keep the energy exporter plugged into the global economy despite the United States withdrawal and sanctions threat.

The diplomats said they remained committed to the 2015 accord and to building up economic relations with Iran, including "the continuation of Iran's export of oil and gas" and other energy products.

Zarif pointed to his "very serious and constructive" talks with the remaining parties of the nuclear deal and said, "I believe that there is political will to continue work and save this agreement but we must see what will happen to this issue in practice."

"We stand ready to put in action President Hassan Rouhani's latest position that if Tehran were not able to export its crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz, no other country would be able to do so", Jafari was quoted as saying in Iran's state-controlled press.

Rouhani told Merkel the US exit from the JCPOA has caused some problems in economic areas, banking transactions and oil sector for the foreign companies which have made investment in Iran, making them reluctant about continuing their operations in the country. He said the package lacks workable solution and is a set of general commitments like the previous European Union statements.

"We must put in place measures that allow Iran to trade as long as it meets its commitments", he told RTL radio in France, cautioning that the new steps may take until November when numerous sanctions take effect.

Rouhani, who visited Switzerland and Austria this week to rally support for the nuclear deal's survival, said in a phone call with Macron that the package "does not meet all our demands", Iran's state news agency IRNA reported.

"They must stop the threats so that we can find the solutions so that Iran can have the necessary economic compensations", Le Drian told RTL radio before traveling to Vienna.

The model set as revolutionary thinking with reliance on people, was in fact the foundation of pillars of sacred defense of the Iranian people in the geography of Islamic resistance, bringing historical triumphs against the Takfiri terrorists and proxy wars, he said.

"After the withdrawal of the United States, which we can't understand, we face a hard situation", he added, but he stressed that "we want to make clear to Iran that it will still gain economic benefits through this agreement".

In the joint statement, Iran's Mohammad Javad Zarif and other top diplomats reconfirmed their commitment to the deal and its "economic dividends" for Iran, which has suffered worsening financial turbulence since Trump abandoned the accord. "To save the deal, other signatories should compensate for US sanctions", a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Friday.

Rouhani warned on Wednesday that Iran could reduce its co-operation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog if the deal collapses.
