Trump, Merkel trade barbs over Russia at Nato summit

As previously reported, trump has sharply criticized the system of construction of the gas pipeline "Nord stream-2" and called Germany dependent on Russian Federation.

"So we're supposed to protect you against Russian Federation and you pay billions of dollars to Russian Federation and I think that's very inappropriate", Trump noted. Mr Trump, meeting reporters with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, before a NATO summit in Brussels, said it was "very inappropriate" that the United States was paying for European defence against Russian Federation while Germany, the biggest European economy, was supporting gas deals with Moscow.

The $11-billion project, led by Gazprom, aims to double capacity of the existing Nord Stream 1 pipeline from next year, bypassing traditional routes through Ukraine. Canada has been explicit in their worldwide communications with many countries.

Nord Stream AG will temporarily shut down both lines of its gas pipeline for two weeks due to routine maintenance works. "I am very glad that we are united today in freedom as the Federal Republic of Germany and that we can therefore also make our own independent policies and make our own independent decisions", she said.

Such breakdowns, experts have told The Washington Post , do not happen only at shoddy zoos with slapdash animal-care practices. Zookeepers say losing these animals is like losing loved ones. "So, we have a responsibility to protect them".

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland was more diplomatic than Trump, but the same message was directed toward Germany.

Pointing to conflict between Russian Federation and Georgia a decade ago, which threatened the 1,099-mile Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Healy Baumgardner, a global fossil fuel adviser and the former press secretary for the Energy Department under President George W. Bush, told UPI it's naïve to try to decouple energy from political issues. "It's not just about Ukraine". She said that she has explored the issues with Ukraine which confronts the pipeline due to the influence it would provide Russian Federation over European countries. "So Canada is clear with our partners about the concerns we have with Nord Stream".

When German officials headed to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels this week, they were already prepared for what they considered to be an inevitable attack by US President Donald Trump over their low defence spending. "I myself have also experienced a part of Germany being controlled by the Soviet Union".

"Germany is a rich country, they talk about increasing it [defense spending - TASS] a tiny bit by 2030".
