Writer removed from summit event says he only had a question

President Trump pushed back against the uproar over his deferential treatment of Russian President Vladimir Putin at their summit in Helsinki, Finland, which drew fire from his own Republican lawmakers for disregarding USA intelligence agencies finding that Moscow interfered in the 2016 election.

Trump, who had the opportunity to publicly rebuke Putin during the news conference in Helsinki, instead praised the Russian leader for his "strong and powerful" denial of the conclusions of US intelligence agencies that the Russian state meddled in the election.

Speaking from a meeting with Republican lawmakers at the White House, Trump said he had "full faith" in United States intelligence agencies, and wanted to clarify his statements from the day before.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has a plan to divide the USA from its allies, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said Tuesday, and President Donald Trump is "playing into that plan either on objective or by accident".

"Ultimately I can tell you what I know, the Russians most certainly under the direction of President Putin interfered in our election, primarily for the purposes of putting a cloud over the head of the next president, no matter who won", Rubio said.

"Just today the Russian Ministry of Defense publicly stated that it is prepared to start implementing an agreement you apparently struck in Helsinki with President Putin, an agreement that neither Congress nor the American people have been informed about", the lawmakers wrote.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told reporters he was requesting a public hearing with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo next week on the administration's Russian Federation policy following Trump's meeting with Putin.

"To me, it's the only question that interests the American press", reporter Yegor Kolyvanov said on NTV, a Kremlin-controlled national TV channel.

As the bipartisan sentiment gained traction, White House aides reportedly hoped it would sway Trump and convince him to deviate from his stance, according to The New York Times. The sentence should have been, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russian Federation.

"The president did a good thing by meeting with Putin", Senator Rand Paul told CBS' "This Morning" program, comments that won him public thanks from Trump on Twitter.

Fake Accounts to be Deleted to Improve Human Confidence in Twitter
Twitter had announced the cleanup on Wednesday in reforms it said were aimed at safeguarding the confidence in follower counts. A recent Twitter crackdown on "locked" accounts meant that high-profile users lost millions of followers overnight.

Mr Trump's comments put himself out of step with USA intelligence agencies, which concluded that Russian Federation was behind an effort to tip the 2016 U.S. presidential election against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, with a state-authorised campaign of cyber-attacks and fake news stories planted on social media.

In Foggy Bottom, Pompeo has gone silent since the president's meeting in Helsinki, where the secretary of state met on the sidelines with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, then refused to answer any questions from the press.

If tangible results from the meeting were thin, the ceremony of it and the civil atmosphere between the two world leaders received considerable attention and was interpreted as a move toward improving the soured relations between Washington and Moscow.

Rep. Bruce Poliquin, a Republican who represents Maine's 2nd District and is up for re-election in November, made perhaps his most forceful statement to date about Russia's interference but did not criticize the president directly.

Let's examine President Trump's statement, piece by piece.

Helsingin Sanomat, Finland's biggest daily newspaper, said Husseini allegedly shouted comments to US journalists and disrupted the live broadcasts they were doing while awaiting Putin and Trump.

When finally asked what he thought of Trump's behavior with Putin, Emanuel spent more than 3½ minutes giving his thoughts.

By Tuesday afternoon when he faced the cameras, Trump had changed tack.

However, Trump stopped short of condemning Russian Federation and noted that other actors could have been responsible in meddling with the election.

The controversial comments, made at a joint news conference with Putin in Helsinki, created a storm of criticism - from both Democrats and Republicans.
