Cristiano Ronaldo endured another scoreless afternoon for Juventus, although he did bag an assist in the Serie A champions' 2-0 win over Lazio.

However, Juve burst into action on 20 minutes as Sami Khedira cracked a shot off the woodwork before Federico Bernardeschi forced a save on the rebound. "I'm happy with how he's fitting in, he is a very humble lad".

In their opening match last week, Lazio lost to Napoli 2-1.

Although Ronaldo would be expected to start week in week out for Juventus, something which seems more likely after Gonzalo Higuaín joined Milan, manager Allegri claims the Portugal global will be forced to feature in a number of cameo appearances throughout the season.

Allegri made his first change, bringing on Douglas Costa for Bernardeschi on 60 minutes, with Juve in firm control.

However, he touched the ball only once in the Lazio penalty area in the first half and, shortly before Juve's second goal, had a dipping shot superbly tipped over by Thomas Strakosha.

Nine minutes later the hosts had opened the scoring through Miralem Pjanic, whose clean hit from 25 yards out nestled perfectly into the corner of the net.

Cancelo then set up Ronaldo for what looked destined to be his first goal for his new club, but the Portuguese star failed to control the ball in front of goal and Mandzukic fired home. For him, for us, to understand his game. We needed to show a bit more patience.

'That said, we will improve and I'm pleased because this is an important win in our first match against a direct rival.

There were chances in the match for the Portugal captain, who netted four goals for his country in the recent World Cup in Russian Federation, but it wasn't enough to get himself a goal.

Ancelotti spent most of his career at AC Milan with the 59-year-old winning three Serie A and four European titles as a player and coach with the northern giants.
