Messi has dominated the award along with Ronaldo over the past decade, but the Barcelona star has been omitted from the top three for the first time since 2006.

Out of the entire planet, Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah are deemed to be the absolute elite, meaning that Lionel Messi - one of the greatest players of all time - has not made the shortlist.
