American Keegan Bradley ended a six-year US PGA win drought on Monday, parring the first playoff hole to defeat Justin Rose and capture the BMW Championship.

But McIlroy was left to wonder what might have been as he played in a final group for the fifth time this season and had 32 putts in a 68 to finish solo fifth, two shots outside the play-off on 18-under.

Keegan Bradley hits his bunker shot on the third hole on his way to winning the BMW Championship on Monday. Rose's runner-up finish is projected to vault him to the world number one ranking.

Rose quickly erased a two-shot deficit against Schauffele with four straight birdies on Sunday (NZ time) on an Aronimink course so soft from rain that tee times were pushed back three hours. "I'll represent the United States over there (in France for the Ryder Cup) and also compete with the top players on the tour". Spieth entered the week 27th on the FedEx Cup points standings but slipped to 31st, with only the top 30 advancing to East Lake.

Tournament organisers announced that the Englishman pulled out due to a back problem shortly ahead of the resumption of play on Monday morning, following the complete washout on Sunday.

This is Bradley's first PGA tour victory in six years.

Les Moonves expected to resign Sunday or Monday
In a second statement after his departure, Moonves said he was "deeply saddened" to be leaving the company and its employees. CBS is saying that they are withholding all financial packages pending an investigation into the harassment allegations.

The top 30 in the standings after this event earned spots in the season-ending Tour Championship, to be played September 20-23 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. To win and to put everything together when I didn't know if I was going to win again, to get to the Tour Championship, to have them here and have what's going on in my life is just so incredible.

But despite coming second, Rose has become the new World No 1, and is now just the 22 player to make the top spot since the rankings began back in 1986.

"I thought I needed to shoot something around 62 today to have a chance", Woods said. The 38-year-old narrowly missed a putt for par, though, leaving the pair level on 20-under.

Bradley and Rose finished a shot ahead of Schauffele, who shot 67, and former FedEx Cup victor Billy Horschel, who signed for a 64. "I kind of fell of the radar there for a little while".

In an announcement video on Twitter, Finau said: "I'm so excited to be on the Ryder Cup team and I can't wait to get to Paris". "This is one of our tougher tests but it just wasn't playing that way this year, it was just soft and it was hot early in the week, the ball was flying, guys were hitting driver-wedge every hole".
