More than half of Idlib is held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an alliance led by Syria's former Al-Qaeda affiliate, while most of the rest is held by rival rebels.

At a three-way summit between Russia, Iran and Turkey on Friday, President Vladimir Putin rejected Erdogan's call for a truce in Idlib, home to about 3 million civilians.

It was the second day of bombardment on the jihadist and rebel-held province and adjacent areas, after key powerbrokers in Tehran failed to reach a deal to avert a government assault.

Asked whether Iran shared concerns about a possible humanitarian catastrophe in Idlib, Jaberi Ansari replied: "We are anxious too".

The administration is "trying to send a clear warning" to the Assad regime, said Melissa Dalton, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

UNITED NATION: Russia will brief the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday about the results of the Tehran summit it held with Iran and Turkey on the fate of Syria´s Idlib province, diplomats said.

Idlib makes up a major chunk of Syria's northwest corner, the last bastion of opposition to President Bashar al-Assad.

Turkey, which has recently sent reinforcements to its borders to prevent the influx of more refugees, now hosts more than three million Syrians.

According to Dr Habib Khashouf, a member of the doctors' union in Idlib province, as of September 9, the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who arrived at the camps in northern Idlib province during the recent escalation stood at 8,000.

Brazil presidential candidate Bolsonaro stabbed, in surgery - 9/6/2018 4:44:16 PM
One of Jair Bolsonaro's key campaign messages is that he will try to turn around the growth in violent crime. The former military officer is considered a far-right populist and is now leading the polls.

For years, as the government retook areas like Aleppo and eastern Ghouta, Syria's defeated rebels have fled to the northern province, which was established as a "de-escalation zone" guaranteed by Turkey, Russia and Iran.

"The new policy is we're no longer pulling out by the end of the year", Jeffrey said, according to the Washington Post.

The Russian strikes and regime barrel bombing on south and southeastern areas of the province killed at least four civilians including two children, the Britain-based monitor said.

That's right, unnamed USA officials are now claiming to be in possession of intelligence which they say shows Assad has already given the order in an absolutely unprecedented level of "pre-crime" telegraphing of events on the battlefield.

Turkey's president on Monday urged the global community to be aware of its responsibilities in Syria as an assault on Idlib looms.

President Donald Trump's national security adviser warned the Syrian government against using chemical weapons in the looming battle for Idlib Province, the last remaining rebel stronghold populated by more than 2 million people.

The attacks have displaced 30,000 people with nowhere to go.

We want to tell you: if you sell Idlib or other opposition-held areas, we're going to buy Reyhanli from you.

Syria's conflict has killed more than 350,000 people and forced millions more out of their homes, but the United Nations has warned a full-blown attack on Idlib could bring unprecedented suffering.
