Woman Accusing Kavanaugh of Sexual Misconduct Comes Forward

It was "disturbing", Grassley said, that such accusations would come forward before the scheduled committee vote on Kavanaugh Sept. 20.

"Senator Grassley must postpone the vote until, at a very minimum, these serious and credible allegations are thoroughly investigated", Schumer's statement reads.

Thank you for signing up for the Sunrise Newsletter. "That can not happen in this case". The senator wants the allegations to be heard promptly, she said.

Republicans, however, showed no signs of budging.

In considering their options, Republicans largely settled on the view that Ms Ford's story alone was not enough to delay Mr Kavanaugh's confirmation. If Ranking Member Feinstein and other Committee Democrats took this claim seriously, they should have brought it to the full Committee's attention much earlier. Her work has been widely published in academic journals. Sixty-five senators met individually with Judge Kavanaugh during a almost two-month period before the hearing began, yet Feinstein didn't share this with her colleagues ahead of many of those discussions.

Asked how Kavanaugh is doing since Ford went public with her story, a source close to Kavanaugh said the judge "remains steadfast in his denial and is determined not to let a single, unverified allegation overshadow his long judicial record and his lifetime of public service".

"I'm going to be talking with my colleagues, but I really don't have anything to add at this point, as I said". In her interview with The Post, Ford offered further detail, saying that one summer in the early 1980s, Kavanaugh and a friend, both "stumbling drunk", led her into a bedroom at a home in Montgomery County, Maryland, where teenagers had gathered. The panel would also likely seek testimony from Mark Judge, Kavanaugh's friend and classmate who Ford says jumped on top of her and Kavanaugh. She told The Post that she ran from the room, briefly locked herself in a bathroom and then fled the house.

According to the Weekly Standard, Judge was named in the letter sent to Feinstein and Eshoo and denied that the incident occurred, telling the outlet, "It's just absolutely nuts".

Jon Gruden finally speaks out on Khalil Mack trade
"We have to get ready to play", said Gruden, whose team opens the season as the late Monday night game against the Rams . He said, "I think he's scared to take shots - at least against us".

Senator Diane Feinstein, the top Judiciary Committee Democrat, issued a statement calling for a delay. "A vote on Kavanaugh's nomination must be delayed until there is a thorough investigation", Sen.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh glances at reporters during a meeting with Sen. Ford had previously described the account during a couples therapy session with her husband in 2012 and during an individual therapy session in 2013, according to the Post. The notes also say four boys attacked her - but Ford insists this was the therapist's mistake.

In 1991, Anita Hill testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee claiming Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas sexually harassed her when she worked with him at the Education Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

"The answer is yes", Katz, who represents Christine Blasey Ford, said on CNN's "New Day".

She alleges that Kavanaugh - who played football and basketball at Georgetown Prep - held her down with the weight of his body and fumbled with her clothes, seemingly hindered by his intoxication. I did not do this back in high school or at any time'.

The New Yorker magazine reported that the alleged incident took place at a party when the now 53-year-old Kavanaugh attended private school in Maryland.

Sixty-five women who knew Mr Kavanagh in high school defended him in another letter, circulated by Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans, as someone who "always treated women with decency and respect". "In fact, she was quite reluctant to come forward".
