The Minnesota Vikings have signed kicker Dan Bailey, owner of the second-best field goal percentage in National Football League history and replacement for rookie Daniel Carlson. "That last one was probably more just confidence after missing twice (earlier)". He was released by the Dallas Cowboys this offseason.

Hopefully this'll be the end of the Vikings kicking woes, at least for field goals and extra points. In the season opener against the 49ers on September 9, Carlson converted his only field goal attempt, from 48 yards, plus three extra points. The 30-year-old Bailey slumped last season after a groin injury that kept him out for four games.

During pre-season, Joseph managed three field goals and converted both extra points from touchdowns. After his first field goal attempt in OT sailed wide right, Minnesota went back to Carlson to kick a 35-yard would-be victor.

Since Zimmer took the job in 2014, the Vikings have had plenty of these problems. Most recently, Blair Walsh missed a potential game-winning 27-yarder against the Seattle Seahawks in the 2016 Wild Card game. Head coach Mike Zimmer surely won't stand for that, and a tough conversation about a kicker general manager Rick Spielman made a decision to trade up for in April's draft is looming.

Hurricane Florence is moving towards land with stormy winds and heavy rains
More than 80,000 people were already without power as the storm began buffeting the coast, and more than 12,000 were in shelters. Resident Jay Manning said he and his wife watched with alarm as water filled the street. "My wife's in a panic right now".

"That's life. I don't know". "It's hard to figure out".

He responded with, "Did you see the game?" and then said it was a "pretty easy" decision. "But things happen, I guess".

Even though the Vikings spent a fifth-round selection on Carlson, they couldn't afford costly mistakes in crucial showdowns. "I'm not anxious about that".

A source said the Vikings also plan to sign wide receiver Aldrick Robinson.
