Thousands of fans swarmed the 18th green Sunday as Tiger Woods closed out his two-shot victory in the 2018 Tour Championship.

"I've been in bed for about two years and haven't been able to do much", Woods revealed ahead of the Hero World Challenge, where he would finish ninth in the 18-man field.

Other than the Valspar Championship, in which he trailed by one heading into the final round and ended up finishing tied for second behind Paul Casey by a single shot, Woods has been fighting from well behind in his other top-10 finishes.

With one round remaining, Woods leads by three from Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose on nine under. He carded six birdies on the first seven holes, which even drew the attention of National Basketball Association star Stephen Curry, who tweeted at Woods, "I want whatever you had for breakfast this morning!"

Woods delivered the flawless ending to his fantastic return from back surgeries with a performance out of the past.

Wood has attracted bumper galleries all year since making his return following major back surgeries.

Klopp's lack of concern over his form is supported by the 44 goals he scored in all competitions after a similarly slow start in his first season with the club.

"This whole season has been pretty remarkable considering where I have come from", said Woods.

Woods had never lost when leading by three shots or more going into the final round. "I had to suck it up and hit some shots".

Actually, it started on Saturday, when Woods began his third round with a barrage of birdies. I've been playing well throughout the entire summer, just piecing it together, building, building and building. "I've got a bunch of guys behind me that have been playing well and are playing well, and we'll see what happens (Sunday)", he said.

This was Woods' first victory since the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2013.

Woods returned to golf in January after spending two years fighting a debilitating back injury, including having surgery four times. He eventually extended that lead to five and then made fans sweat as he gave up strokes down the stretch on the back nine to decrease the lead to two with only two holes left.

Rory McIlroy has dealt the European Tour a significant blow on the eve of the Ryder Cup by revealing he will nearly certainly not play on his home circuit until July next season.
