Tom Brady shares thoughts on Jimmy Garoppolo's knee injury

Late in the 4th quarter of a 38-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, 49ers franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, ending his first full National Football League season in San Francisco. Tests confirmed Monday that the 26-year-old quarterback tore his ACL, ending his season and setting up a lengthy rehab process, ESPN reported.

This led to some of the fan base to call for a familiar face to help save the 2018 season: Colin Kaepernick.

Garoppolo's ousting is the 49ers second loss after top running back Jerick McKinnon, who endured a season-ending knee injury last month.

The 24-year-old winger's uncomplaining attitude, coupled with a precocious sense of responsibility, has endeared him to his manager.

"Any time you lose your starting quarterback, that's a big deal". Following the game, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the team feared Garoppolo had torn ACL and today's MRI revealed the devastating news. He said he feels "terrible" for his former backup. "I know how disappointed he is".

The 49ers will have to wait another year to earn dividends on that investment. While he hasn't been quite as efficient as he was late a year ago after being acquired at the trade deadline from New England for a second-round pick, the Niners offense has been far more potent than it was before he took over as quarterback.

Garoppolo suffered the injury while trying to make a play late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game.
