For sexual assault survivors, tips for dealing with onslaught of triggering news

Christine Blasey Ford says she is certain she did not mistakenly identify Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as her attacker at a party when they were both in high school more than 30 years ago.

She said that Kavanaugh's declaration of "innocence" and lack of sexual inactivity in high school on Fox News is a lie.

Ford said, "The same way I am sure I am talking to you right now".

Republican Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the committee, said at the opening of the hearing that he wanted it to be "safe comfortable and dignified for both of our witnesses".

Since Ford's allegations were made public, two other women (Julie Swetnick and Deborah Ramirez) have come forward also accusing Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct during the early 1980s. If he's going to have that seat legitimately, all of these things should be investigated because, from what I experienced firsthand, I don't think he belongs on the Supreme Court. "This is a shameful way to treat our witness, who insisted on confidentiality, and Judge Kavanaugh, who has had to address these allegations in the midst of a media circus". "That kind of depends upon what happens tomorrow", Grassley said.

He described his nominee as "a real gem" and said he probably would have pushed for faster confirmation rather than waiting for Ms Ford's testimony. "And no, I've never done anything like that". "My responsibility is to tell the truth", she added, adding that she was "terrified" to testify but that she considered it her "civic duty" to relate the details of the incident.

The Democratic senators will have free reign to ask questions. They will not be heard today because Senate Republicans do not want them to be heard.

In his response email, Koegler wrote, "I remember you telling me about him, but I don't remember his name". He stayed behind with their children, as the family has faced multiple death threats since she came forward with her allegations.

Trump lauds Kim in United Nations return
Moon said he will discuss with Trump what their corresponding measures could be when they meet on the sidelines of the UN. On Monday, the USA leader seemed to change tone as he hailed " tremendous progress on North Korea ".

"On numerous occasions at these parties, I witnessed Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh drink excessively and engage in highly inappropriate conduct, including being overly aggressive with girls and not taking "No" for an answer", said Swetnick in her declaration.

Republicans have cast doubt on Ford's account and dismissed the allegations against Kavanaugh as part of a "smear campaign" orchestrated by Democrats to obstruct his nomination.

"It's happened to me many times", he said, claiming he had been accused - falsely - by "four or five women". "Brett laid on top of me and tried to remove my clothes while groping me".

Design agency Godfrey Dadich Partners says the ad was crafted in the same style as a 1991 full-page ad where 1,600 black women showed support for Anita Hill as she accused then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment.

"What they have endured ought to be considered by all of us as unacceptable and a poor reflection on the state of civility in our democracy", Grassley said. Blasey Ford confirmed she was the one who sent the confidential letter to Feinstein. Alas, the New York Times could not independently corroborate even one of her claims, and said Avennati declined to make her available for an interview.

He added: "It's possible that I'll hear that and I'll say I'm changing my mind".

As the future of the country's highest court hangs in the balance, Kavanaugh and his accusers will be under intense scrutiny from all sides.

The second accuser, Ramirez, a classmate of Kavanaugh's at Yale University, told the New Yorker magazine that he exposed himself to her at a party when they were both first-year students.
