Google's Project Stream lets you play Assassin's Creed Odyssey in Chrome

The first game that will be playable on Project Stream is Assassin's Creed Odyssey from Ubisoft.

The two firms will allow Assassin's Creed Odyssey to your Chrome browser on a laptop or desktop.

This is Google's game streaming technology which it has been working on for some time now, trying to face down the challenges which it claims form the "next technical frontier for streaming", and will be much more demanding than pre-recorded video.

If we look throughout, we will find that Google is the only company which is focussing more on game streaming.

Project Stream's beta is only available in the U.S., mind, and there's a limited number of slots available.

Select people have an opportunity to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey for free this week through Google's new "Project Stream" service.

Qureshi said it was the third time that the current Indian administration had called off talks, "each time on flimsy grounds". Those who take innocent human lives in pursuit of war by other means are defenders of inhuman behavior, not of human rights.

"The incredible visual fidelity of its world combined with the mechanical demands of being a Spartan mercenary in Ancient Greece make "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" the flawless candidate to push Project Stream to its limits", Ubisoft said.

Reports have been swirling around Google's development of a subscription-based game streaming service for several months.

"We have many technologies, so it's case by case, but Assassin's Creed has no multiplayer mode, and that is very important for the social aspect of gaming, so we are looking into that."
There will only be a few testers participating in the project, and signups are open right now via the official Google project page if you're interested in participating. You'll also need a computer, and 25 megabits per second of internet speed (Google can help test your connection to make sure you meet this mark).

In 2014, the company reportedly planned to buy Twitch, a live streaming video platform popular with gamers before Amazon beat them to it.

Both Google and Ubisoft made individual announcements on the subject, focusing on the technological advancements that make streaming a game like Odyssey on a web browser possible.

Just like GeForce Now, the idea of Project Stream is to allow users to play graphics intensive games on their device regardless of their specs.
