Mark Judge's lawyer says FBI interview completed

Michael Avenatti says the Kavanaugh FBI investigation is a 'farce and is being run by Donald Trump'

Michael Avenatti says the Kavanaugh FBI investigation is a 'farce and is being run by Donald Trump'

The FBI has finished interviewing Mark Judge, a friend of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who was said to have attended a high school party in the early 1980s where a woman says she was sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh, Judge's lawyer said Tuesday.

The apparent go-ahead for an un-proscribed interview, reported by the New York Times and as stated by President Trump a press conference, follows reports that the White House counsel had told investigators to limit their queries to a small group of people. "I guess I want to say, 'Thank you, '" Walsh said.

Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee voted on Friday in favor of Kavanaugh's nomination but a full Senate vote on confirmation was delayed for a week after President Donald Trump bowed to pressure from moderate members of his Republican Party for the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe. (This is the "don't think about pink elephants" tactic.) Yes, I know, Kavanaugh was attempting to deny he had a drinking problem.

"My White House will do whatever the senators want", Trump said. Last week, a triumvirate of Republican senators - Jeff Flake of Arizona, Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska - vowed to withhold support for the nominee unless the White House allowed a supplemental background check into claims of sexual assault against Kavanaugh from California university professor Christine Blasey Ford.

The third woman, Julie Swetnick, accused Kavanaugh and Judge of excessive drinking and inappropriate treatment of women in the early 1980s, among other accusations.

But in subsequent comments to reporters, after he finished speaking to the largely receptive crowd, Flake defended the time limitations and scope of the FBI investigation that he forced as a condition of his Senate Judiciary Committee vote to approve Kavanaugh last week.

Jeff Flake had a message for his friend Democratic Sen.

The Kavanaugh nomination erupted last month into a major controversy that jeopardized an effort by Trump and his fellow Republicans to cement conservative dominance of the nation's highest court and push America's judiciary to the right. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) promised Tuesday that the Senate would vote on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be a justice on the Supreme Court by the end of the week.

The judge has vehemently denied all of the allegations against him, from Ford and two other women who have accused him of sexual misconduct.

Ramirez alleged in an interview with The New Yorker that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a dorm party when they were both freshmen at Yale University.

"It does no good to have an investigation that just gives us more cover, for example".

No matter what Mitchell thinks, many agree that Kavanaugh's behavior during the hearings was so volatile and disrespectful that his actions alone proved Dr. Ford's testimony was true.

In a statement Sunday, a Yale classmate of Kavanaugh's said he is "deeply troubled by what has been a blatant mischaracterization by Brett himself of his drinking at Yale".

Kavanaugh has denied the allegation.

'This is not a man that said that he was flawless with respect to alcohol, ' said Trump, who found the testimony 'excellent'. The protesters wanted Manchin to commit to opposing Kavanaugh's potential confirmation to the court.

In a switch in tactics, Democrats are raising new questions about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's truthfulness when he testified to Congress last week.

In response to her testimony, Mr Kavanaugh said he had never assaulted her or anyone else.

Flake said he would have voted against confirmation if Senate leaders rejected the delay. "They were clearly passionate and determined that I hear them".

But Ludington said he "cringed" when he watched Kavanaugh describe his drinking on a Fox News TV interview and in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
