The October 2018 update for the Xbox One has started rolling out to all users, and it finally brings us the revamped Avatar system. Their value comes primarily from the new games that arrive annually and the updates that extend the device's functionality way beyond the original release.

Xbox Avatars have been updated for Xbox One with a slightly different look from their Xbox 360 counterparts.

"Avatars will appear across your Xbox One".

Ever since the Xbox One launched in 2013, fans of the platform have been asking about avatars. You'll see the new Avatars on your own profile, in the activity feed and Gamerscore leaderboard, and more.

A new Avatar Store will offer outfits, props, and accessories that let you customize colors, and will be updated every month with new additions.

The ADF said the groundings triggered by the United States crash "will not affect the delivery of aircraft to Australia". Initial data from the ongoing investigation into the September 28 crash indicates a fuel tube may have been faulty.

The Xbox October Update also includes Alexa integration. You can enable it through the Settings menu. You are not forced to utilize the new avatars and you can absolutely keep that fun character that you've had for years.

Are you looking forward to restyling your Xbox Avatar?

The October Update also includes the Xbox Skill for Cortana and Alexa, letting people use their voice to interact with Xbox via these devices, letting you use commands from turning off your Xbox to adjusting the volume. Using one of these AI devices, players can turn their console on and off, launch games, and capture screenshots. I browsed through several Xbox One X and Xbox One S listings this morning, and while they mention the Alexa skill, there's no indication of an Echo Dot being part of the package, at least at the time of this writing.

For a limited time, USA gamers who purchase an Xbox One S or Xbox One X bundle on Amazon will get the new Echo Dot smart speaker for free. Again, there's a catch: you need to actually have a TV that supports Dolby Vision HDR connected to your Xbox One.

Dolby Vision is supported by select TVs made in 2017 and 2018 by LG, Sony, and Funai. Support on more apps will come in the following months.
