Since their victory over Newcastle United, Manchester United have picked up four points from two games to move up to eighth position in the league standings.

However, speaking ahead of United's trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, Mourinho revealed he's confident the Red Devils will secure Champions League football.

"These games are the ones we can grab by the scruff of the neck and take to Man United".

It seems to be a departure from Mourinho's established transfer record, as the three players are 23, 23 and 21 respectively, and would offer a long-term solution to United's defensive problems.

Simon Francis feels Bournemouth's form suggests they may even be favourites against Manchester United.

José Mourinho believes Manchester United will soon be in the top four and once there they can consider challenging for the title.

After finishing second last season, United are now eighth in the Premier League table and have won just six of their 14 games in all competitions.

Plus, the health service has old debts to pay, particularly for PFI contracts and other private endeavours. More likely he would just allow borrowing to persist at a higher level".

Mourinho said he was not surprised by Bournemouth's steady progress under Eddie Howe and expects them to compete for the Europa League qualification spots this season.

"But I think by the end of December, which is the end of the first half of the Premier League season, we are not going to be in the position we are now".

"We had a double of away fixtures, Burnley and Watford, and now we have a double of away fixtures, Bournemouth and Manchester City". The aim is clear: The Red Devils want to clinch a second-consecutive Premier League win for the first time since September.

"I think United will be looking at the top four and thinking they can get above Arsenal and Tottenham", he said.

"We will have Juventus away before Manchester City".

Following the game, Mourinho raised his little finger towards a TV camera and appeared to say something in Portuguese. One thing is a top talent, another thing is a top player. "This team, the way they are playing and the goals they are conceding, it's not a Jose Mourinho team".
