Adding Jet Airways' comments after para 9) New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI) Aviation regulator DGCA has asked Jet Airways and SpiceJet to take corrective action to address possible issues with their Boeing 737 MAX planes that could lead to "significant altitude loss" of the aircraft, a senior official said Thursday.

Boeing said it is continuing to work with the Indonesian investigation.

"The KNKT plans to hold a flight reconstruction in the engineering simulator facility of Boeing in Seattle to find out the impact of the glitch on the sensor", he said. The incident also resulted in flight delays for other airlines, including Batik Air.

An angle-of-attack sensor that had been removed before that previous flight has been brought to the investigators and will be examined in the US, the Indonesian officials said.

Indonesia's transport ministry has scheduled a briefing at 12:30 p.m.in Jakarta on Wednesday to share updated information on the Lion Air accident, Bloomberg reports.

Another Lion Air flight has crashed just a week after one of the company's planes plunged into the sea, killing 189 people.

Officials were sending as many firefighters as they could, Cal Fire spokesperson Rick Carhart said. The warning will remain in effect in the area until Friday morning, officials said.

The DGCA had reviewed the performance of Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes operated by Jet Airways and SpiceJet.

Angle of attack is a technical term that refers to the angle between the oncoming air or relative wind and a reference line on the airplane or wing, according to Boeing.

The directive gives regulatory weight to Boeing's safety bulletin it sent to operators based on findings from the ongoing Indonesian investigation. Moments earlier, the pilots radioed a request to return to Jakarta to land, but never turned back toward the airport, according to Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee and flight-track data.

"We are formulating, with the NTSB (US National Transportation Safety Board) and Boeing, detailed inspections regarding the airspeed indicator", said Tjahjono, on Tuesday. Boeing has an existing procedure that allows pilots to continue flying in the event that angle of attack readings become erroneous.

If there is an "uncommanded nose-down stabilizer trim" on the Max, pilots can counteract it by pushing a switch on their control yoke.

Citing a report by CNN Indonesia, ST's article said that passengers were subsequently placed on another aircraft which left for Jakarta at about 10.10pm (local time). In addition, a system known as elevator trim can be changed to prompt nose-up or nose-down movement. Boeing said it had warned operators "to address circumstances where there is erroneous input from an angle of attack sensor".
