About 100 migrants have been deported following rush to U.S. border

A U.S. Border Patrol agent speaks to women and children who crossed illegally into San Ysidro, Calif., on Sunday.

One of the children was reported to have sustained a facial injury.

Reuters reporters Monday night observed approximately two dozen people scale a 10-foot high fence, and in another location, just before dusk, three people were able to squeeze through the fence on the beach, where they were detained by U.S. Border Patrol. Those individuals were also apprehended and taken into custody "for appropriate processing", he told Fox News' Bill Hemmer.

"Eighty-five percent of those crossing illegally between ports of entry and all lured by the fact that our legal framework has huge gaps that create the opportunity to stay in the US while awaiting a court hearing even if they don't a lawful permission or protection claim", Commissioner McAleenan said according to Ms. Pavlich's report.

Karen Mayeni, a 29-year-old Honduran mother with three children aged between 6 and 12, told Reuters that she was standing by and watching others penetrating the border and "waiting to see what happens".

The migrants in Tijuana are part of several caravans that traveled through Mexico in an effort to enter the United States, citing issues such as widespread violence and dismal job prospects in their home countries.

But about 90 minutes later, she and her children were seen on the USA side of the border, according to the report.

The attempt to cross into the U.S. illegally came just days after the migrants were transferred from one temporary shelter to another after it had become unsanitary.

People mainly from Honduras but also from El Salvador and Guatemala formed the caravan to Tijuana, seeking safety in numbers while crossing Mexico to avoid criminals and the fees demanded by the gangs that prey on migrants.

Last week city authorities bussed them to a concert venue that now acts as a federally run shelter, 14 miles to the south.

After crossing into the United States they were taken in by border patrol officers.

He pointed out that now, some 2,500 migrants remain in a migration camp near the Mexican-US border, not far from the city of Tijuana. "That's not fair. How do you think people from Tijuana feel toward those people who are making problems?"
