Fans have rallied behind Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green after she was crowned the first runner-up at the Miss Universe pageant over the weekend.

Twenty-four year old model, television personality, and seasoned beauty queen Catriona Gray from the Philippines takes the world by storm as she bested all other 92 candidates December 17 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Hung was captured on camera talking with Miss USA, Sarah Summers, and Miss Colombia, Valeria Molares, about how hard it would be for Miss Cambodia, Rern Sinat, competing in the pageant as a woman who can not speak either English or Spanish.

The Miss Universe Organization lifted a ban on transgender contestants in 2012.

"What an honor and pride to be part of the history of @missuniverse", she wrote in an Instagram post.

In an interview with ABS-CBN back in July, Gray said Ponce has earned the right to represent her country.

She may not have won the big prize, but Ponce definitely won a special place in the hearts of many who are fighting for the inclusion of trans and non-binary people in society. "That is who she is", she further noted.
