Just the evening of her swearing-in ceremony, the new congresswoman - who happens to be one of the two first Muslim American women elected to Congress - shouted to a crowd, "We're going to go in and impeach the motherf**ker". She has been vocal about her support of the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel. "She added the hashtag, "#unapologeticallyMe".

On the same day, the Detroit Free Press published an op-ed co-written by Tlaib and founder of the Impeach Donald Trump Now campaign, John Bonifaz, which called Trump a "direct and serious threat to our country".

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) pointed out that Tlaib is a newcomer to Congress who "has a determination of what's she going to do with no facts or basis", urging Pelosi to "have a conversation with this member on whether she approves of this or not". Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of NY told CNN impeachment was "an issue that she's passionate about".

"Well I thought her comments were disgraceful, this is a person I don't know, I assume she's new, I think she dishonored herself and I think she dishonored her family", President Trump said.

"You can't impeach somebody who's doing a great job", Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday.

Republicans seized on Tlaib's remarks to criticize Democrats for playing politics with impeachment.

Arsenal manager Emery: I'm taking senior players to Blackpool
Do you think Ramsey will be a success in Italy? "We've already played them away so it's great that we've got them at home". Max Clayton (hamstring) is doubtful, while Mark Cullen (leg fracture) and Jimmy Ryan (knee) are long-term absentees.

"We already have overwhelming evidence that the president has committed impeachable offenses", she said.

Hammill later tweeted a slightly different recap: "Speaker Pelosi made clear that today's meeting was about re-opening government, not impeachment". Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who led impeachment efforts against President Bill Clinton two decades ago, encouraged conservatives to foster what he believes would be counter-productive impeachment talk among Democrats. Both Nadler and Pelosi were in Congress during Clinton's impeachment.

House Democrat Brad Sherman agrees, and on Thursday formally introduced impeachment measures against Trump.

Other Democrats were more forgiving, even if they disagreed.

"I certainly think it a valid question and it's one that a lot of voters were interested in having in the run-up to the election", Ocasio-Coretz said.

"How was she going to stand up to the most radical-left elements of her party when they become unhinged?" Wisconsin Rep. Ron Kind said. "It doesn't reflect the caucus, and I'm sure upon reflection, she might choose other words to describe her feelings".
