MLB Rumors: Manny Machado Yankees, Phillies, White Sox, Mets?

Nevertheless, Machado's free agency - and the free agency of fellow superstar Bryce Harper - is one of the biggest storylines of the Major League Baseball offseason, so it's hard to imagine Lozano's statement will suppress much speculation or stop additional rumors from circulating. The Yankees could easily sign Machado to a more lucrative deal and have enough money to spend on Bryce Harper and then some.

But it doesn't look like Machado will get close to that number according to reports from ESPN's Buster Olney. Perhaps its a power-move from the White Sox, daring other teams to put their best offer on the table.

This time of year, there's a whole lot of games that are played in the media. It was Saturday night, the 71st day of this momentous free-agent period.

Dan Lozano sharply criticized Olney and USA Today's Bob Nightengale for their reporting on Machado's free agency situation.

Only time will tell when it comes to seeing what Harper and Machado end up deciding on for their future in baseball, but at least from Philadelphia's perspective, just being in the running at this point is awesome since it shows the Phillies mean business heading into the 2019 season. But over the last few months, other teams have gotten into the race, including the White Sox, Dodgers and Nationals. It also contradicts an earlier report that detailed a contract offered to Machado worth upwards of $250 million over eight years. There might be unknown teams involved, but for Machado, only the Sox and Phillies have expressed strong interest.

Israeli Student Killed in 'Horrendous Attack' in Australia
La Trobe University vice-chancellor John Dewar said the university had "intensified" its security following the attack. The tram will depart from Parliament Station and travel to Bundoora , where her body was found.

"The Yankees said the same thing", Nightengale said.

Do the Phillies Really Have a Preference?

The Phillies might ultimately set the market for Machado.

We all know the Padres have been rebuilding since that 2015 season where they had Kemp, Kimbrel, Shields, both the Upton brothers, and Derek Norris, but still ended up with the same old 74 win season.

If the Phillies do sign Harper, the Sox should be the last team standing for Machado, who would fall into their lap at a "bargain" price considering his age - 26 - and career numbers. "So, I think that's why that stuff got leaked out. just to protect their own feelings".
