A step at a time for Pacquiao in Las Vegas return

Manny Pacquiao steps into the boxing ring this evening against Adrien Broner as he looks to prove "age is just a number".

In his first fight on USA soil since 2016, and his first fight as a 40-year-old, Manny Pacquiao cruised to a unanimous decision victory over Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to retain his secondary WBA welterweight title.

Floyd Mayweather was co-promoting and sat ringside and even if at 42, he does get back into the ring to take on his old foe again, he will give "Pac-Man" more problems than Broner managed.

According to a 2015 report by Business Insider, Tecate forked over $5.3 million (P279 million) to maintain its usual spots during Pacquiao's mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

While it was a good performance for Pacquiao, Broner didn't make him work for it.

"Although I wanted to be aggressive more, my camp told me don't be careless and to counter him and wait for opportunities". He landed only one punch in the final round and as he has always done when he has stepped up to face an elite opponent, he lost a decisive decision: Pacquiao, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter and Marcos Maidana. Turned out Pacquiao did, and then some as he pushed the attack against Broner. He stepped back into the ring on New Year's Eve, however, for an exhibition match against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.

Ocasio-Cortez: We’re Going to ‘Run Train on the Progressive Agenda’
Ms Ocasio-Cortez has previously called for a 70 per cent top tax rate and for the biggest banks to be broken up. AOC also remarked on the intense scrutiny she receives, telling the Post it's "physically exhausting".

CompuBox credited Pacquiao for landing 62 more overall punches than Broner (112-of-568 to 50-of-295).

"He needs to get past Adrien Broner first".

"I proved in my last fight against [Lucas] Matthysse and now I proved it again".

"I'm so happy", said Pacquiao.

The scores of 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 might not have mirrored Pacquiao's dominance and Broner's typically cautious approach but with trainer Freddie Roach back in the team, he showed he is still one of the biggest draws and names in the game.

Asked about his age by Showtimes Jim Gray, Pacquiao who is fighting in the 70th bout of his legendary career stated that he feels young despite being 40. Broner never landed more than eight punches in any round.
