Ghanaian forward Kevin-Prince Boateng is on the verge of joining Barcelona in a shock loan move from Italian side Sassuolo, according to media reports in Spain on Monday.

The player will be presented on Tuesday, 22 January.

He will now play as a stand-in striker for Luiz Suarez at Barcelona who is on a superb goal scoring form for the Catalan giants this campaign.

This is the second consecutive transfer window in which Barcelona have done business with Sassuolo, having sold youngster Marlon Santos to the Serie A club last summer.

'Barca, I'm coming! I'm sad to leave Sassuolo but is a great chance, ' the Ghana global told Sky Sport.

Warner injures elbow in possible World Cup blow
Warner will leave the tournament early to have his injury assessed, joining his former skipper Steve Smith in the injured list. Warner, batting at No.3, continued the good work by sharing a solid 56-run stand for the second wicket.

"I'm a bit sad because I'm leaving a professionally-run club in Sassuolo and it was hard to say goodbye to everybody today, even if Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world", Boateng told the outlet.

Boateng confirmed his move to Barcelona yesterday.

The arrival of Boateng, 31, would provide much-needed cover for Luis Suarez up front in Ernesto Valverde's squad following the departure of Munir El Haddadi to Sevilla.

"It was a testing day, but saying goodbye to my teammates, [sporting director Giovanni] Carnevali and the coach meant so much to me".

Boateng is an exciting attacker who gives defenders headache with his dazzling skills as well as shooting with both legs including his aerial power in air balls.
