When contacted, Facebook representatives told us Australians should have access to the unsend button "over the next few days". That means you won't be able to run back through old messages and unsend anything you want, which is both a bummer and a logical move.

Well, once you've felt the unmistakable sinking feeling of immediate regret, you have 10 minutes to delete your message.

The remove message feature is available for Facebook Messenger users around the world on the latest versions of iOS and Android. Other people in the conversation will be alerted that a message was removed, Facebook said.

Last year, TechCrunch reported that Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent people messages that no longer appear in their Facebook chat logs or in the files available from Facebook's Download Your Information tool. You send the wrong message to the wrong person or spell a word embarrassingly bad over messenger. Most importantly, for Facebook, that message still remains on its servers.

To do this, tap on the message you'd like to retract and and select 'Remove for Everyone'. But you better act fast - the grace period lasts only 10 minutes. After clicking remove, you then have the choice to pick between removing the message from your own account or everybody's account.

In the note, Zuckerberg indeed relates his apartment choice to make "a basic site composed around individuals", which in the end developed to in excess of 2 billion clients.

This is an option that has always been rumored, and even began a rollout at one point, because reports came out that higher up execs at Facebook had the option and the public began to pressure the company to give everyone the same feature.

Other apps like WhatsApp, Signal and Discord already use end-to-end encrypted messaging.
