NBA Trade Grades: Wizards sending Otto Porter Jr. to Bulls

The Washington Wizards are reportedly sending small forward Otto Porter to the Chicago Bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker, according to a report from National Basketball Association insider Shams Charania.

Parker and Portis are the Bulls third and fourth-leading scorers behind Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen.

This is not the sort of move the Wizards hoped to have to make, but it's a pragmatic one in the wake of Wall's injury.

Trump Didn´t Consult Military on Withdrawal from Syria
Trump's Syria withdrawal has fueled rare, vocal opposition from within his own Republican party. Officials said that overall, about 2,000 ISIS militants remain in Syria.

The Wizards have traded forward Otto Porter Jr.to the Bulls. Most importantly, Washington goes from having over $116 million, seven million over the cap, on the books next season across just six players, assuming Dwight Howard opts in to his ridiculous player option, to just $89 million if Parker's team option is declined. In his fourth season in the National Basketball Association, mainly coming off of the bench, Portis is averaging 14.1 points on 45 percent shooting including 37.5 percent from deep and 7.3 rebounds in 22 games.

Wizards owner Ted Leonsis said in late January the team was "not trading" Porter. Whereas, Bobby & Jabari will be restricted free agents this Summer.

Porter, 25, is making $26 million this season and is signed for next season at $27.2 million, with a $28.5 million player option for the 2020-21 season.

Additionally, Porter's lack of assertiveness, absence of joy, and passive-aggressive relationships with Wall and Beal all contribute to a rather underwhelming tenure. The power forward had averaged 14.1 points per game this season but has appeared in just 22 games. Beyond unloading Porter's contract, the Wizards save about $4M this season (accounting for Parker's and Portis' contracts) and lower their luxury tax bill. Teams have until 3:00 p.m. ET to finalize their trades.
