Although Tyler Johnson plays nowhere near the value of his contract, the Miami Heat developed Johnson from a little regarded twenty-one year old into a part of Heat culture.

However, Ellington's agent, Mark Bartelstein, is working with the Suns to have the guard waived, which would allow him to join a playoff contender, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He's averaging 8.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

For the Suns, they receive another guard to add to their rotation. His contract includes a 15 per cent trade bonus valued at $1 million that he will receive as a result of this move.

The Sixers made a major trade on Wednesday when they acquired forward Tobias Harris, center Boban Marjanovic and forward Mike Scott from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Johnson, 26, is in his fifth National Basketball Association season, all with the Heat.

The complex structure of that deal eventually hamstrung the Heat from salary-cap and luxury-tax standpoints, with the bulk of the salary coming in the final two years of the deal. He is best known for his hustle that often left him with missing teeth and other aggression-related injuries.

Ellington will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. He potentially could find playing time with the Heat, with Johnson and Ellington both dealt and sidelined at least another month with a knee injury.

Johnson, who is averaging 10.8 points, 2.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 25.5 minutes per game this season, has one left year on his contract, assuming he opts in for $19.3 million next season. Anderson has played for the Rockets, Pelicans, Magic, Nets, and Suns during his career, averaging 12.5 points.
