With that bug, a person could spy on you using FaceTime, even if you didn't answer the call.

The new iOS 12.1.4 update is now available on iPhones from 5s and later, iPad Air and later as well as iPod Touch sixth generation. Plug your device into a power source and click on the Download and Install button. If it's greyed out, then you might need to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

By the way, that term is extremely generic, describing any sort of software vulnerability that is unknown to said software's developers for any period of time while hackers take advantage of a security flaw.

"My motivation is to get Apple to create a bug bounty program".

This bug, likely the most serious to hit iPhone and iPad users, has already resulted in at least one lawsuit. 'You can FaceTime any iOS device running 12.1 and listen in remotely-WITHOUT THE OTHER PERSON ANSWERING THE CALL'.

You can probably see where this is going: the mother-son duo who discovered this flaw attempted to inform Apple's customer support.

Thailand party accepts king's opposition to Princess Ubolratana PM bid
Ubolratana was not present when her name was registered with the Election Commission by the Thai Raksa Chart Party . Later that day , reigning King Maha Vajiralongkorn, 66, condemned the bid as unconstitutional and "inappropriate".

Interestingly, a 14-year-old boy in Arizona named Grant Thompson was trying to play video games with friends when he accidentally discovered the vulnerability.

While an Apple spokesperson did not immediately respond to FOX Business' request for comment on the bug bounties, on Thursday it apologized to its customers regarding the FaceTime flaw.

"In addition to addressing the bug that was reported, our team conducted a thorough security audit of the FaceTime service and made additional updates to both the FaceTime app and server to improve security", Apple said in a statement.

The company said last week it was planning to improve how it handles reports of software bugs.

The same flaw that was discovered in iOS 12 by Thompson was also present in macOS Mojave with an update to macOS 10.14.3 also issued.
