Triple killer Dellen Millard must wait 75 years to seek parole - he'll be 102.

Parts of the eight men's bodies were later found in decorative planters at a home where McArthur worked as a landscaper. "This court can not give them what they want the most - which is their loved one back". McArthur sexually assaulted, killed and dismembered men he met in the "gay village".

"Especially when it comes to race and class and the LGBTQ community there has always been a distance in terms of how police work with the community", said Haran Vijayanathan, of the Toronto-based Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention group. He killed most of the men in his bedroom, where he bound and then strangled them with rope.

Police are still reviewing a series of cold cases to see if they can find any links to McArthur but have said that so far, they believe he didn't kill anyone else.

Serial killer Bruce McArthur is being sentenced Friday. But the inquiry was shut down after 18 months.

The man - who has only been identified as "John" - had been texting McArthur via a dating app.

"The accused has saved the family, friends, and community at large from enduring a graphic public trial that would have been a nightmare for everyone", he said. The police, at that time, accepted McArthur's story that they were engaging in consensual sex.

Bezan cited the gruesome case of serial killer Clifford Olson, who pleaded guilty to murdering 11 children in 1982.

The sentencing hearing ended Tuesday, with the length of McArthur's sentence announced today. At least one was facing deportation after not being accepted as a refugee by Canada. Another was a recent immigrant with a drug problem.

"He preyed on his friends; he preyed on the vulnerable", Harper told the court. Kyle Rae, Toronto's first openly gay city councillor, recalled seeing him around.

McArthur pleaded guilty to killing Andrew Kinsman, Selim Esen, Majeed Kayhan, Dean Lisowick, Soroush Mahmudi, Skandaraj Navaratnam, Abdulbasir Faizi and Kirushna Kanagaratnam.

Some of the victims' friends and family members were too overwhelmed by emotion to read their sentencing statements to the judge, and prosecutors took over.
