President Donald Trump responded to his former personal attorney flipping on him, testifying before Congress, and working with special counsel Robert Mueller by calling the investigations into his campaign and Russian Federation "bullshit".

Trump's comments to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland came amid expectations that Mueller is wrapping up his investigation and preparing to send his findings to U.S. Attorney General William Barr within days or weeks.

With the Mueller investigation reportedly coming to an end, Trump criticized the probe as a "collusion delusion" and said that political foes were trying to take him out with "bullshit".

Trump's speech came at the same time Senator Bernie Sanders, who has embraced the label of "democratic socialist", spoke at a rally in NY, assailing Trump as "the most unsafe president in modern American history". The word "socialism" has been in heavy rotation since some Democratic candidates began openly embracing liberal platforms including the Green New Deal and a Medicare for All.

Desperately, they have to go out and get it, but I'll take the other side of that argument, only because I am mandated to.

"I think it's really something that they should promote, that they should work hard on".

"I think the New Green Deal, or whatever the hell they call it - the Green New Deal - I encourage it", Mr Trump said mockingly.

"Acquiescence to Trump is now the defining trait of the Republican Party more than two years into his presidency - overwhelming and at times erasing principles that conservatives viewed as the foundation of the party for more than a half century", Costa concluded. No planes. No energy. Let's hurry up. Darling, is the wind blowing today? "I'd like to watch television".

Seeming to feed off the crowd's support, he added: "We're in the swamp of Washington DC, but you know what - we're winning and they're not".
