US Lawmakers Announce Sweeping Document Requests in Trump Probe

Trump hugs the US flag as he arrives to speak at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference

As Special Counsel Robert Mueller has pursued his investigation into Moscow's role in the 2016 USA election, legal experts have debated what sort of contacts between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russian Federation may have violated US criminal law.

President Donald Trump drew cheers on legal immigration and boos on the Democrats' Green New Deal before an exuberant crowd on the last day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the highest attended conference in its 45-year history. That timeline has evolved over the course of the investigation, with Trump associates saying the project was not entertained during the presidential election to Trump eventually telling the special counsel, according to his lawyer, those conversations may have extended much deeper into the 2016 campaign.

One person the U.S. president didn't mention in his two-hour CPAC speech was his former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, who testified before several congressional committees this week where he called Trump a "con man" and "racist".

Cohen blasted Trump during testimony he gave Wednesday to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, calling his former boss a "racist" and "conman".

While some Democrats have called for Trump's impeachment, party leaders have by-and-large eschewed the subject. "I had to walk because every once in a while, you have to walk".

"The president has a right to do a lot of things, but he can abuse his power in doing that", Nadler said.

Trump said Democrats have fired the starting gun on the 2020 presidential campaign in an effort he's dubbed "presidential harassment". We're going to go into his finances.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other senior congressional Democrats have been more circumspect about the prospect of impeaching Trump.

Trump, Kim end summit with standoff over easing USA sanctions
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters that "negotiations are still ongoing" between the two delegations. The Republican Senator told Fox News US President Donald Trump has given North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un a "way out".

The Opposition has launched in the US Congress, a massive investigation against President Donald Trump.

Warner said he will reach his decision on whether Trump colluded with Russian Federation to help him win the election after more investigation. After Cohen left, Schiff announced that the committee will hold an open hearing later this month with Felix Sater, a Russia-born executive who worked with Cohen on an ultimately unsuccessful deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

Mocking the Democrats and their "collusion delusion", Trump blasted them for overreaching for launching a series of new investigations into him now that they are in the majority.

Given that he believes that Trump obstructed justice, Nadler was asked on "This Week" whether the decision not to pursue a formal impeachment investigation at this point was merely a political distinction.

Trump also touched on various other topics, from Robert Mueller's investigation to America's recent economic successes, the border wall situation, and trade negotiations with China.

Mueller also is looking into whether Trump engaged in obstruction of justice by trying to impede or shut down the Russian Federation investigation, first when it was conducted by the FBI and later after the special counsel was appointed in May 2017. "I think they have to be careful to lay out a persuasive case of why they're taking-undertaking each one of these investigations", he told Cabrera. "We're going to check" - these people are sick". "My job", Nadler said, "is to protect the rule of law".

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) made her most recent statements during a television interview, a much more sedate setting than a few weeks ago when she called for Trump's impeachment using a crude epithet.

"The president looked at the concerns and the president says those weren't concerns", McCarthy said.
