Special counsel Robert Mueller obtained a search warrant targeting President Donald Trump's then-personal lawyer Michael Cohen emails in the summer of 2017, almost a year before an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on Cohen's home and office that was publicly known, according to partially unsealed documents released Tuesday. A 19-page blacked out section under the heading, "the Illegal Campaign Contribution Scheme" could be the most damaging for President Trump, according to Bradley p. Moss, a prominent National security lawyer.

Mueller's office referred "certain aspects of its investigation" to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of NY in Manhattan months after it obtained the warrants, according to the documents.

The almost 900 pages of documents released by a federal judge in NY provide more detailed accounts of Cohen's financial relationships than previously known.

The FBI raided Cohen's office and hotel suite on April 9, 2018, seeking evidence of bank fraud and hush money payments to two women, porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal, who claimed they had affairs with Trump. Cohen is scheduled to report to prison on May 6.

Trump has denied having sex with either woman and has accused Cohen of lying about Trump's role in the payments.

Much of the discussion about campaign finance issues in the released documents was redacted.

Last month, after news organizations petitioned for their release, Pauley ordered the partial release of copies of search warrants, warrant applications, supporting affidavits, and riders connected to the raid.

Lanny Davis, a lawyer for Cohen, said in a statement on Monday night that the document release "only furthers his interest in continuing to cooperate and providing information and the truth about Donald Trump and the Trump organization to law enforcement and Congress". Last month, he testified before a U.S. House of Representatives panel, calling Trump a "racist", "conman" and "cheat".

In his congressional testimony, Cohen said he was "ashamed of my weakness and misplaced loyalty, of the things I did for Mr. Trump in an effort to protect and promote him". Prosecutors in NY have since alleged Cohen was charging enormous sums while performing minimal work.

Haper's deal, signed this month with the Phillies, will pay him $330 million over 13 years - an annual salary of $25.38 million. As Trout's contract was due to expire after the upcoming season, the Los Angeles club made him an offer too good to turn down.

They detailed how investigators believed money going to Cohen, including to his firm Essential Consultants, was for political consulting, including from global clients with issues pending before the Trump administration.

The Renova Group is an industrial holding company run by Viktor Vekselberg, one of seven Russian oligarchs who were slapped with sanctions by the US State Department past year in retaliation for the Kremlin's meddling in the 2016 presidential election and other "worldwide malign activity".

"But the fact is, there is no collusion and I call it the "witch hunt" - this should never happen to another president, this is so bad for our country, so bad", said the president.

The FBI also obtained permission from Howell to access all emails sent or received from a separate email account Cohen set up to engage in lucrative corporate consulting contracts through the newly-created firm Michael D. Cohen & Associates, P.C. Framing himself as the personal attorney to President Trump with close ties to the administration, Cohen received hundreds of thousands of dollars from entities like AT&T and Novartis.

In their investigation, Mueller's prosecutors also obtained Cohen's telephone records and went so far as to use a high-tech tool known as a Stingray or Triggerfish to pinpoint the location of his cellphones.

The bank fraud case stemmed from Cohen dealings unrelated to Trump, and suggest that his financial situation was dire.

Was there any new information in the documents?

This means Mueller was investigating Cohen much earlier than was previously known, and a little less than a year before an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on Cohen's home.
