Boy last seen in Wisconsin in 2011 possibly found alive, says he was held captive

Authorities said Thursday that the "teenager" claiming to be Timmothy Pitzen, the IL boy who went missing in 2011 at age 6, is actually a 23-year-old man.

"We hope it's true", his aunt, Kara Jacobs, told CBS2 TV in Chicago. "Timothy's father is devastated once again".

"We just know a 14-year-old boy was found and went to the police", Anderson said. "You will never find him", the note said.

Following news of a potential family reunion, a relative said they were not getting their hopes up given the disappointment of previous claims.

Police in the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville wrote in a short incident report that the boy said Wednesday morning that he had "just escaped from two kidnappers" he described as white men with body builder-type physiques.

Newport, Kentucky, police chief Tom Collins told ABC News that the person is Brian Michael Rini of Medina in northeast Ohio.

He was released from an OH prison less than a month ago after serving more than a year for burglary and vandalism. He also pleaded guilty to passing bad checks-a felony. The same man had multiple citations in Medina Municipal Court, including driving without a valid license, disorderly conduct and theft.

Authorities have rejected a teenager's claim that he is an IL boy who disappeared in 2011 at age 6.

A man who said he was Timmothy Pitzen is not the missing boy, according to DNA tests, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Thursday.

After Wednesday's developments, Aurora police sent two detectives to check out the teenager's story, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation was also investigating.

The case left police, Timmothy's family and his hometown wondering whether he was dead or alive.

Authorities have rejected a teenager's claim that he is an IL boy who disappeared in 2011 at age 6. He said they had been staying at a Red Roof Inn, but he had no idea where.

Baughman now is an administrator at another IL school district.

Timmothy vanished at age 6 after his mother pulled him out of kindergarten early one day, took him on a two-day road trip to the zoo and a water park, and then killed herself at a hotel. His mother was later found dead at a Rockford motel. One witness took a picture of Timmothy standing in a parking lot.

On Wednesday a boy who said his name was Timmothy told police in Newport, Kentucky, that he had been held captive for seven years by two white men he described as "body-builder types", until he escaped and ran across a bridge from OH into Kentucky. She reportedly left a note saying the child was "safe".

"A 22-year-old man called for help November 29 using the vehicle's OnStar system but was vague in the details".

Aurora police sent two detectives to check out the teenager's story.

At the time of the boy's disappearance, police searched for him in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. We just don't want to get our hopes up. Investigators said she picked him up from school in IL and took him to the zoo and to the Dells.

Anderson says her daughter was having problems with her fourth marriage and had battled depression for years.

The teen had visible bruises on his face when he was found and told witnesses he had been running for hours, according to United States media reports.
